The roof - fixed.

      When I was posting this picture I thought maybe I shouldn't write anything:) I was choosing the decoration for the roof for a week, I didn't like anything - it was too easy or too difficult and time-consuming. I was worrying too much, then I realized that this is my first big project, and if  I mess something up it's no big deal, I can fix it later, or don't fix at all but I always gaining some experience which is the most important for me.
     I relaxed a bit and started fixing the roof. And it's working now!:) You can open the facade without problems. I want to thank Karin, Caterina, Tom Pouce and Sans for great tips, in the result I used fabric as hinges (I forgot to make a photo, sorry, will do it next time).
    Some more pictures, I'm really sorry for the quality, I had to use my hubby's DSLR, and I'm not used to his camera, so they are a bit blurry.

Three pieces you see above will be used for wall decoration.  In russian it's called ("причелина" - pree-che-lee-na:), hehe, sounds and looks funny in Latin letters). This is the part that covers the corners of the house. So without it the house corners look like this:

I hope to make them tomorrow, and I'm moving to interior. It's going to be fun!

Наконец-то я это сделала! Закончила крышу, остались причелины. Где-то неделю я выбирала рисунок для крыши. Все было не то, или слишком просто или слишком сложно. Остановилась на данном варианте. Я не могу сказать что довольна, очень переживала, как получится, в результате поняла, что важен процесс, тот опыт, который я получу, а остальное совсем не важно. Сразу успокоилась - и сделала:) Фасад теперь открывается без проблем, спасибо всем тем, кто дал ценные советы. Подробной фотографии нет - я забыла:) Три элемента для причелин уже вырезаны. Осталось все это вместе собрать. Должно получиться неплохо. В целом, фотографии не очень - мой Кэнон разрядился, пришлось брать камеру у мужа:) А с ней я не очень дружу, дает холодные цвета очень. В общем, заканчиваю причелины и вперед делать интерьер. 

The problem with roof - photos.

Yesterday I posted about it, and Karin offered her help, so I'm posting the photos. Here it is, on the slope of the roof there should be decoration, about 1'' wide (i used here  paper pattern):

So when I try to open the facade, the decoration is blocking it:

Because the slope is too close:

So my solution would be, one part to the right is glued and not moving, another that is blocking should be on the hinges, something like this:

 

 I think it would be easy to use some sort of fabric hinges, besides I'm afraid that I won't find hinges small enough. At the moment I can't think of another way to solve the problem.

Small update - first but not the last problem.

I've finished gluing the veneer on the pediment, and the main part of slope of the roof is done too.

This week I need to decorate the roof and the rest of the house, then I'll be able to move to interior part. And now I have a problem, I was going to decorate the roof  this way (well, something like this):

But the slopes of my house are longer (it's ok, depends on the house really). So when I open the facade part of the roof is blocking it.  Here's what happens when you haven't planned it all. So I had to think of something. First of all, I thought I wouldn't decorate the roof at all and do only pediment,  like this (the pediment or should I call it  tympanum, is great here): 

Then I thought it would be ok, if I still decorate it the way I wanted before, but with one trick. I need to break it in parts, and the part that is blocking opening of the facade would be on hinges, the smallest ones or I think it would be ok to use some sort of fabric hinges. So when I open the facade part the part of the decoration goes up - well, I hope you get the idea. I think this will go. Anyway, I'll post the results this week, so we'll see.:) 


Наконец-то закончила клеить шпон на фронтоне. Крышу тоже поклеила, остался декор. И тут обнаружилась большая проблема. По склонам крыши я собиралась пропустить резьбу, добавить полотенца, но оказалось (хех, раньше надо было думать), что это невозможно - когда открывается дверца фасада, она слишком плотно прилегает к крыше, и если пустить резьбу, то дверца будет открываться не полностью. Очень расстраивалась, пока не придумала пару способов решить эту проблему. Первый способ - забыть про резьбу и полотенца, основной акцент сделать на декор фронтона (смотрите вторую фотографию). Тогда дверца будет открываться полностью - вроде все хорошо. Но это все равно не мой вариант. Второй способ - резьбу все-таки сделать,но те части, что блокируют фасад, сделать отдельно и не клеить намертво, а прикрепить на петли ( в моем случае это даже не классические петли, а просто соединительный кусок ткани). Второй вариант мне пока нравится, буду пробовать. Посмотрим, что получится.

Windows - finished!

Yay! I've finished the windows, now when I look at them I cannot believe I did it.

 

 

As you can see I also painted and glued the balcony, looks almost fine to me.

Also I changed the upper part of the window, my Mom and hubby reminded me of the simplest and the most important part in such windows - the accent on one of the parts, you can make the upper part bigger or the lower: the bigger part will have more details, more decorations and so on. So I changed the upper part a bit:

I just added the small strip  - and the whole window looked absolutely different after. This week will be all about the roof:) More scroll saw exercises.

Уррра!!! Я　наконец-то закончиа окна, потратила целый выходной:) Мама и муж посоветовали мне тут добавить акцент, на какую-либо из частей наличника. Если посмотрите на существующие наличники, то можно увидеть, что это либо акцент на нижней, либо на верхней частях. Так и сделала. К верхней части добавила небольшую рейку. Получилось - теперь совсем по-другому смотрится. Когда окна готовы - можно и балкон прикрепить, что и сделала. Вполне подойдет.  Эта неделя пройдет под знаком крыши:) Там будет еще больше лобзика. :) 
Ну и к тому же, я хочу поблагодарить всех тех, кто читает мой блог. Теперь появились и первые русскоязычные читатели (уф, длинное слово:), за что им отдельное спасибо! Мне очень приятно видеть вас в моем блоге!

Quick update

      I haven't posted anything for a week - my hubby and I caught a flu, not N1H1 fortunately, so I couldn't do anything but staying in bed. Sadly,I didn't finish windows. Just the table (sorry for the pictures):

 

      The legs are made of pinewood, the rest is oak. My husband was helping me, he became interested in miniature more lately. So we started from the simple things. The only problem was to fix the legs - somehow it's almost impossible to find four-sided glue jig in Moscow! Maybe we are looking at the wrong stores.
     So, we thought of another way to glue the legs and stringers (do I use the right term?).  Tricky trick:

     We glued both sides of the legs to the pattern, so it would be perfect right angle. Then you glue the stringers and take off the paper on the upper side. I was surprised but it worked.

     The second update - I changed the layout of the blog, so if something not working, drop me a line. I'm quite happy with the new look of my blog, I used the picture from the old album "Motifs de'l architecture  russo".

      Besides, I have my first tutorial published on the Russian site dedicated to dolls and dollhouse miniatures. I was offered to make the article about mini lathe so I was happy to share some experience. Especially, when this kind of hobby - miniatures - is not popular in Russia, and it's considered more like hobby for kids.

So here it is (Warning it's all in Russian:)). I hope to write something else to find more people, passionate about miniatures.

   Прошу прощения, что не писала целую неделю. Все семейство заболело гриппом, потому все эти дни я провела в постели, с трудом выбираясь иногда на улицу. Потому окна еще не закончены, только сделали стол. 

   Ножки стола сделали из сосны, остальное дуб.  В общем, начали с простого, постепенно будем усложнять задачу:) 

   Из других новостей - я поменяла оформление блога и очень им довольна. Если что не работает - пишите. 

    Что еще, да, давно надо было выложить ссылку на мой небольшой урок по миниатюрным токарным станкам, вернее, по основам работы с ними. В общем, статья тут . Буду рада написать еще статью,  надеюсь, что людей, увлекающихся миниатюрой станет больше.  Вообще, давно подумываю о том, что надо бы на русском блог вести тоже. В общем, идей много.
