Inlay table

I made this table just after the first exhibition, it was fun! I was inspired by federal style furniture with this one:

I used pearwood and mahogany, a bit of basswood too.

Several months ago I bought these cute tiny casters, so it was a great chance to use them. :) The most tedious part was "inlaying" the sides of the table, the legs were easy to do. The ornament is tiny, the one on the leg is 2 mm thick.

The drawer was the easiest part:

The frame for the drawer:

Looks good with the chair:

Hope you liked it! Tomorrow - shadowbox.

You are becoming quite a skilled furniture maker. Very impressive as you don't have any teachers there to take classes from.

@Karin: Thank you, Karin! I really appreciate it! I wish I had some teachers here, in my case, video shops and magazines help me.

Well I can only join the Ladies:) Great great work Victoria! Still think you should open a shop ;) I have no idea how you added all these kinds of wood to one table and I am impressed.:)

Victoria said...

@The Old Maid: Thank you so much! Opening the shop is still a bit of problem for me, no full paypal in Russia, only moneybookers, so I don't know if it's worth it.
Adding the wood is easy;) Just need once to get the hang of it.

I just found your blog this morning through Karin's and read the whole thing. I love all the things you have made especially the inlaid table, it is just wonderful. I also love furniture making and just found out that there are a handful of people in Johannesburg, South Africa that makes real good furniture so I am planning to go to their workshops next year. I was also so lucky to win a scholarship for IGMA's Guild School in the USA next year and I think maybe you should try that for 2012, here is the link for their website: http://www.igma.org/

@Elga: I'm very glad I've found your blog too! You're doing such an amazing work. Congratulations on your scholarship, you're so lucky! I was late this year, so thank you for reminding me about 2012 applications, I'll be in time this year;) Added you blog to my bookmarks, looking forward to read it all!

Oh, this is an amazing and wonderful table! Something like this, but more longish I'd like to make next year. The wood is bought, but I don't think, that mine will look as great as yours! And where did you get these casters? I'm always looking for tiny metall fittings. They are just perfect for your table!
